The Everlasting Present

ARTIST STATEMENT

My new body of work is culmination of thirty years of painting in California.

The central coast of California to be more specific. For the past thirty years, I have been an ardent appreciator of the California “scene” and the California painters of the past. From the turn of the century post impressionist painters, to the San Francisco Bay Area painters of the teens and twenties, Such as the Society of Six artists. And then of course to the later Bay Area Figurative School, of the 50’s and 60’s.

Many great influences and traditions to call upon. Indeed it is a very rich heritage.

And so it is my responsibility to try to add something worthy to this great artistic legacy. That is a direct result of my training from my principal art educator:;Regionald Rowe.

Who was another great influence on me at the

Marion Kroogler McNay Art Institute of San Antonio Texas, so many years ago.

This new work is abstraction, informed by the landscape.
